layer applied to the top, and a 1 inch (2.54 cm) layer applied to each end. Additionally each lid interior shall have a 1 inch (2.54 cm) layer of 2 pound density, convoluted polyurethane foam, NSN 8135-01-250-0471 that conforms to Military Specification MIL-P-25414E, affixed to the layers of cushioning required above. Mounting shall be accomplished through the use of pressure sensitive adhesive in manner as to effect a secure bond, but not so permanent as to preclude replacement.
In addition to the layer of foam specified previously to fill the indentations and voids in the base, each base interior shall have a 1 inch (2.54 cm) layer of flexible, 2 pound density polyethylene foam, NSN 813-01-250-0472, from the full depth of the case to the top of the frame insert at each end. Foam shall be affixed with pressure sensitive adhesive to form a secure bond, but not so permanent as to preclude replacement.
The additional loose sheets of foam cushioning shall be provided with peel-off, pressure sensitive adhesive backing. When applied, this adhesive shall form a secure bond, however, not so permanent as to preclude replacement.
Shall have packed within its interior two (2) packaging procedure aides (PPA). Each PPA shall be printed on 8 1/2” x 11” stock and shall be laminated on both sides. The PPA shall recommend procedures to follow to optimize the effectiveness of the case during packing.
Reference standard. Where standard is referenced herein, the issue of that standard in effect on the date of solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Workmanship. The medical case shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One medical case, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government.
